A hillside entrance rebuilt for Sassafras
A steep, deteriorated approach needed a safer and more coherent route to the home. We rebuilt the entrance with stairs, retaining elements, landscape shaping and custom timber handrails fitted around the established garden.
Planned carefully. Built properly.
The site challenge
A sloping approach makes each part of an entrance affect the next. Steps, ground levels, retained edges and handrails all needed to come together without losing the site's Dandenong Ranges character.
The result
The reconstructed stairs and retaining elements establish a clearer approach. Custom natural timber posts and handrails add a robust, warm finish, while landscape shaping integrates the work with the surrounding ferns and established planting.
A project seen from the street
After seeing this transformation on the same Sassafras road, the owners of a nearby bed-and-breakfast asked us to upgrade their own entrance. That was a separate project, with concrete-sleeper stairs, Jarrah rails, stainless-steel wire rope, lighting and driveway shaping.
